Operation Tribulation: Six arrested following search warrants across Canberra

UPDATE

Over the weekend (Saturday, 21 April 2018 and Sunday 22 April 2018), as part of Operation Tribulation, members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team, with the assistance of the AFP Specialist Response Group and the AFP Canine Team conducted 15 search warrants across Canberra.

During the execution of these warrants police located and seized:

  • Over $100,000 in cash
  • Six vehicles including two Ford Rangers, a Dodge Ram and a Harley Davidson Motorcycle
  • A shortened firearm and ammunition
  • Drugs including trafficable quantities of substances believed to be cocaine, MDMA, cannabis, anabolic steroids and
  • Other assets including residential properties, bank accounts and jewelry with a combined estimated value of $1.5 million.

Five males were arrested in Canberra and faced the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with drug trafficking offences. One of those males will face additional charges in relation to the importation of border controlled drugs.

A sixth man was arrested in Sydney and is currently in the custody of NSW Police. Following the extradition process he will be charged with drug trafficking offences.   

Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said Operation Tribulation remains ongoing and we will continue to target organised criminal syndicates operating in the ACT.

“We are committed to not only prosecuting offenders but stripping them of all wealth and assets derived from serious and organised crime,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.
