Police busy at Skyfire 2014

ACT Policing officers were generally pleased with the behaviour of the large crowd which attended the Skyfire fireworks event over Lake Burley Griffin last night (Saturday, March 15).

Around 30 missing children were reported during the evening however, the free issue of identity wristbands to children by ACT Policing staff and officers helped facilitate the return of many.

Underage drinking remained an issue of police attention, with seven juveniles taken into protective custody for alcohol-related issues. These young people were dealt with by a special Youth Reception Team.

One adult male was taken into custody for intoxication.

ACT Policing deployed personnel to the north and south of the lake over the course of the evening, as well as SRG Maritime on the water.
