Police give race day tip – ‘don’t drink and drive’

UPDATE

ACT Policing is urging those attending this Sunday’s Black Opal Stakes Day at Thoroughbred Park to plan ahead and drink responsibly.

Targeted and random breath testing will be conducted across Canberra.

“The message to those attending the Black Opal Stakes Day is simple if you plan to drink, then drink responsibly, plan ahead and utilise public transport or organise a lift home,” Officer in Charge of Traffic Operations, Acting Station Sergeant Marcus Boorman said.

“We want the Canberra public to enjoy themselves but not at the expense of others.”

“Police won’t tolerate any anti-social behaviour or those that decide to act irresponsibly by drinking and driving.”

“For those who choose to take the risk to drink and drive be prepared for the consequences.”

ACTION will be running free shuttle bus services from Thoroughbred Park to the City Bus Station between 5pm to 7.30pm. Shuttles will depart from the pickup bay outside the main entrance of the racecourse.
