Police investigate after four teens hospitalised from overdose

UPDATE

ACT Policing is investigating the suspected overdose of four juveniles hospitalised yesterday (Thursday, 1 December).

Police received separate reports of four juveniles hospitalised last night after ingesting an unknown quantity of a prescription medication, often prescribed for nerve pain, epilepsy and fitting conditions.

The teens were treated at Calvary Hospital and the Canberra Hospital.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations are working to establish how the juveniles came into contact with the prescription medication.

People should only take prescription medicines if advised to by their doctor, as inappropriate use of medicines can cause serious adverse health effects.
