Police investigate shots fired and vehicle arson

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigation detectives are investigating a suspicious vehicle fire and firearm being discharged at a house in Isabella Plains.

Around 11pm on Friday 10 March, ACT Fire and Rescue and police responded to a report of a vehicle fire at a house on Ellerston Avenue, Isabella Plains.

The vehicle fire was extinguished by ACT Fire and Rescue and deemed suspicious. 

A second vehicle at the location also sustained fire damage.

Investigations at the scene indicated that a firearm was discharged prior to the vehicle fire commencing.  A crime scene is established and AFP Forensic Services will undertake a forensic review.

Superintendent Steve Turnbull said that it was very fortunate that no one was injured during this incident.

“ACT Policing will be investigating this incident and following all leads of enquiry.

“Investigating officers believe that this is a target incident relating to outlaw motorcycle gang activity.  As a result, Taskforce Nemesis will be assisting Criminal Investigation detectives during the investigation,” Superintendent Turnbull said.
