Police seek witnesses to suspicious fire in Manuka

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a suspicious fire at a Manuka restaurant in Griffith this morning (Wednesday 30 November).

About 3.55am, ACT Fire and Rescue attended the restaurant on the corner of Franklin and Furneax Streets in Griffith and extinguished the fire. The fire caused significant damage to the restaurant and some neighboring properties sustained damage due to smoke.

ACT Policing attended and the Criminal Investigates team has taken carriage of the incident, which is now being treated as suspicious.

A crime scene will remain in place throughout today and AFP Forensic Services will conduct an examination of the scene.  

Police investigations are ongoing and police are urging any witnesses to come forward.  

A man was seen riding a bicycle in the area about the time of the fire. We ask that man to come forward and provide any details that could assist police.
