Police urge cricket patrons to behave responsibly

Police on patrol at Manuka Oval

ACT Policing will have a high visible presence at today’s one day international between Australia and New Zealand at Manuka Oval to ensure the safety of all patrons.

Operation Commander for the Event, Station Sergeant Adrian Craft said police and security will be working closely monitoring crowd behaviour both in and out of Manuka Oval.

“Our message to those attending today’s game is clear, enjoy the day and have fun, but any anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated,” Station Sergeant Craft said.

“Attending the cricket is about having a good time and that means acting responsibly.”

“To ensure the safety of all patrons, we’ll be keeping a close eye on all areas of the ground to make sure everyone can enjoy a great day of cricket.”

Police and security will be paying particular attention to people attempting to bring alcohol into the ground. Bags brought into the venue will be checked by security. Those persons caught in possession or consuming alcohol purchased outside the ground will be ejected.

Police are also urging patrons to moderate their alcohol intake and stay well-hydrated throughout the afternoon and evening.
