Public assistance sought following man using fake online dating profiles

ACT Policing is calling for information from the public after a man allegedly created fictitious accounts on various online dating applications. 

Between January 2023 and January 2024, the man is believed to have used fake photos and a fake name to engage with several women via online dating platforms. 

In one incident, the man is alleged to have exchanged his mobile number and residential address with a woman under the guise of the fake identity as presented on his dating profile.  

It is further alleged that when the man and woman met up, the man committed an act of indecency on the woman.  

The man was subsequently charged with committing an act of indecency without consent. 

Police have already spoken to a number of people in relation to this matter, and are urging anyone who is yet to speak to police or who has information about this matter to come forward.
