A 19-year-old Nicholls man has had his provisional licence suspended for 90 days following an incident yesterday morning.

About 8.50am yesterday (Saturday, 20 January 2024) ACT Road Policing officers were conducting speed enforcement operations on Gungahlin Drive, Franklin.

The officers identified a white BMW M3 travelling at speed and a laser speed measuring device recorded the M3 at 130km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

The 19-year-old provisional licence holder from Nicholls was stopped by police and spoken to. His licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and he was issued an infringement notice for $1,841.00 and six demerit points.

Police would like to remind drivers to obey the posted speed limits, and that their friends and family will forgive them if they are running late, but not if they never arrive.
