Stay COVID safe this Father’s Day

COVID-19

ACT Policing is reminding Canberrans to stay COVID safe and consider the current restrictions when celebrating Father’s Day this weekend.

Father’s Day is a day for family; however, police remind Canberrans that as the ACT remains in lockdown, it is important people are sensible and continue to do the right thing.

When outside the home, people should protect themselves and their loved ones, by wearing a mask, maintaining good hand hygiene and physical distancing and using the Check In CBR app.

ACT Policing will continue to use a variety of methods and measures to ensure compliance and enforcement of all ACT health directions.

Detective Superintendent Naomi Binstead from ACT Policing’s COVID-19 Taskforce said mask wearing will remain a focus of the compliance activities.

“Mask wearing is a key factor in limiting the spread of COVID-19, and remains one of the most important precautions to protect yourself and your family,” Detective Superintendent Binstead said.

“We are urging people to be sensible and continue to do the right thing. We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but we can do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”

“Our Road Policing officers will continue their anytime, anywhere approach to those entering the ACT, with more than 2800 traffic stops conducted this week.

“And our dedicated COVID-19 compliance teams will also be out and about, responding to compliance issues and checking to make sure the current restrictions are being followed.”
