Stay COVID safe this long weekend

COVID-19

ACT Policing is encouraging everyone to stay COVID-safe over the Labour Day long weekend.

As Canberrans head out over the break, Superintendent Stephen Turnbull from ACT Policing’s COVID-19 Taskforce said patrons had an important role to play in assisting businesses to remain COVID compliant this weekend.

“It’s always great to see Canberrans out supporting local business through such a difficult time,” Superintendent Turnbull said.

“While restrictions have been easing, businesses are still required to adhere to health directions regarding the number of patrons they can serve at any one time.

“If you are out this weekend there are a number of ways to help Canberra establishments manage their COVID obligations.

“Be sure to book ahead so businesses can plan for your arrival, inside the venue be sure to follow health directions such as remaining seated while drinking. Once you are finished, don’t exceed your allocated booking time so the business can prepare for the next group and stay within their patron limit.”

ACT Policing will continue to work with Access Canberra and ACT Health to conduct compliance patrols throughout the long weekend.

In the past seven days ACT Policing conducted 849 quarantine checks bringing the total number of checks to more than 12,800.

ACT residents are also encouraged to download the Check In CBR app which helps businesses to meet and monitor contact tracing obligations.
