Summernats scam

Summernats all areas black wrist band

ACT Policing is warning people attending Summernats Car Festival not to purchase stolen wristbands to gain entry.

A high volume of Summernats ‘all areas’ wristbands were stolen six months ago prompting organisers to change the design and colour of this year’s entry bands.

A full price season pass to the festival is $145, but thieves are attempting to sell the stolen wristbands for $20 each in the car parks around Exhibition Park.

Several punters have been scammed today and refused entry by tight security at the gates.

Organisers have advised that people who purchase the stolen wristbands won’t be gaining entry.

“Our team are well prepared and you will be denied entry if you try, so don’t bother,” said Andy Lopez, Summernats co-owner.

Police are urging anyone who is approached by the scammers to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
