Suspended driver records .231 blood alcohol reading

Charged with drink driving

A 39-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly recorded a blood-alcohol-reading of 0.231 on Saturday night (6 May 2023).

About 8.30pm police received a call reporting that a car had collided with a tree in Macfarlane Burnet Avenue, Macgregor.

Officers located the vehicle nearby a short time later, and arrested the driver. He was taken to Belconnen Police Station for breath analysis.

After the man recorded an alcohol level of 0.231, police issued him an immediate suspension notice, suspending his right to drive in the ACT for 90 days. Police checks then revealed the man’s provisional licence had been suspended in January 2022.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, 8 May 2023, charged with level four drink driving and driving while suspended. He will also face a charge of contravening a family violence order and one count of aggravated common assault (family violence).
