Suspicious garage fire in Kambah

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire in Kambah which gutted a garage and damaged a house early this morning (Wednesday 2 September).

About 3:20am, police attended Stymers Street after reports of a fire in a free standing metal garage at the location. Some of the fire had spread to the main residence causing damage to at least one of the rooms and filling the residence with smoke.

The four occupants of the premises were woken by a neighbour who heard explosions and saw the fire. The free standing garage was completely destroyed by the fire and contained, amongst other things, a 2000 Subaru WRX.

When the occupants were alerted to the fire, they saw the rear door to the garage which had been locked, was now open.

Investigations are ongoing.
