Taskforce Tydeus update 5 - Third man to face court
ACT Policing has arrested and charged a 40-year-old man in relation to an alleged act of indecency in the presence of a child in Greenway.
He is the third man to face the ACT Magistrates Court as a result of Taskforce Tydeus.
Around 5pm on Tuesday 18 September 2018, police responded to the report of a man committing an act of indecency in the presence of a child near Lake Tuggeranong.
The child alerted their parents who videoed the man on a mobile phone then chased him away.
The man didn’t approach or talk to the child.
As a result of information provided by the child and his parents, a 40-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Monday 8 October 2018) following a search of a home in Kambah.
The man was subsequently charged with committing an act of indecency in the presence of a child and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
Police would like to remind everyone to help our children understand the importance of stranger safety and the importance of reporting any unusual approaches immediately on 131444 or in the case of emergency 000.

There have been 19 child approaches reported to police since February, 2018. Police are reviewing all reports of child approaches received since February and are asking anyone with information to email Op-Tydeus@afp.gov.au.
