Two to face court after extradition from NSW

A 37-year-old man and a 28-year-old man have been extradited from Queanbeyan, New South Wales, by ACT Policing today (Friday, 1 July).

The two men were arrested by NSW Police yesterday morning (Thursday, 30 June) in Queanbeyan after fleeing from ACT Policing following an aggravated robbery at the Australia Post store on Townsville Street, Fyshwick.

About 9.30am, two men riding a motorcycle parked near the Australia Post on Townsville Street. One man entered the Australia Post and threatened staff with a shortened shotgun, demanding cash. The staff complied and the man fled the store, returning to the motorcycle where he fled with the second man. The men were later arrested by NSW Police in Queanbeyan.

Today, ACT Policing sought the extradition of the two men in the Queanbeyan Magistrates Court and were successful.

Both men were transported to the ACT Watch House and it is expected that they will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Saturday, 2 July). Both men will face charges relating to the aggravated robbery.
