A decision was taken this morning that no further search activity at Gibraltar Falls was required at this time.

The matter remains under investigation.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Gibraltar Falls on Monday afternoon is urged to contact police.

Update issued approximately 4.50pm, Tuesday 22 August 2023

ACT Policing has suspended the search at Gibraltar Falls, with nothing of interest located following an extensive search of the area today.

The search was ceased at about 4pm today (Tuesday, 22 August).

Investigations into the circumstances of this matter are ongoing.

Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is urged to call ACT Policing Operations on 131 444.

ACT Policing is urgently seeking to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Gibraltar Falls yesterday afternoon.  

About 5.30pm yesterday (Monday, 21 August 2023) ACT Policing was contacted by witnesses who heard calls for help while parked off Corin Road near the closed Gibraltar Falls entrance. 

Police and Parks ACT Rangers searched the area however at this time no people requiring assistance have been located. Searching (including the use of drones) was suspended at about midnight last night and resumed early this morning (Tuesday, 22 August 2023).  

ACT Policing would like to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Gibraltar Falls yesterday afternoon or anyone who is aware of family or friends who were visiting the area yesterday.
