UPDATE Deceased woman located in City hotel

Update issued approximately 8.15pm, Thursday 24 August 2023

While police continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident, the woman’s death does not appear to be suspicious.  

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

ACT Policing is investigating the death of a 40-year-old Canberra woman after her body was located in a City hotel earlier today.  

Police were called to a hotel on Akuna Street at about 11.15am today (Thursday, 24 August 2023) after staff located a woman believed to be deceased.  

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attended and confirmed the woman had died some time earlier and an investigation was commenced.  

At this time, police are considering all avenues of enquiry and will await the outcome of an autopsy.
