Witnesses sought; elderly woman robbed

ACT Policing is investigating the robbery of an elderly woman in Holt earlier today (Monday 7 March).

About 10.55am, the 88-year-old woman was walking into a unit complex on Hardwick Crescent, Holt, when a male approached her from behind. The male knocked her to the ground and took her handbag from the walking frame she had been using. The offender ran a short distance before removing the woman’s purse from the handbag, dropping the handbag on the ground and continuing to flee on foot in the direction of Latham.

The offender is described as being about 17 years of age, slim build with curly blonde hair and wearing dark jeans, a yellow T-shirt and sneakers.  

Around the same time, four males and one female were seen in vehicle acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the incident. The vehicle was described as an older model similar to a Nissan Pulsar or Ford Laser, gold coloured and with NSW registration plates beginning with ‘AW’.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information regarding the offender or nearby vehicle, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
