Witnesses sought to Richardson grass fire

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a grass fire which occurred in Richardson yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 16 March).

About 2.45pm, police received reports of a small grass fire between Monks Creek and Ashley Drive in Richardson.

ACT Fire and Rescue was in attendance and extinguished the flames, before they deemed the fire as suspicious and handed the scene over to ACT Policing.

Due to the amount of smoke blowing across the area, police were required to redirect traffic at the intersections of Isabella Drive and Ashley Drive as well as at the intersection of Clift Crescent and Ashley Drive. They were reopened a short time later.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the incident, or may have witnesses anyone acting suspiciously in the area prior to the fire to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
