Woman charged following online romance scam investigation

A 26-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Monday, 12 February 2018) on obtain property by deception charges.

Members from ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations executed a search warrant at a residence in Dunlop today, and as a result the woman was arrested and taken into custody. 

Police will allege the woman was involved in an online romance scam.

She will be charged with 24 counts of obtain property by deception, and police will oppose bail.

Police urge anyone who may have fallen victim to a scam to contact police on 131 444 or make a report to ScamWatch.
